Deze ongelukkig aangelegde square ligt midden in de zogenaamde textieldriehoek van Kuregem. In 1975 kocht een Joodse ondernemer een huis in de buurt en startte er een kledinggroothandel. Hij kreeg meteen navolging. Joodse groothandels werden aangevuld met Pakistaanse en later Chinese. In 2013 waren er alleen al in de Brogniezstraat een 90-tal kledingzaken en een 30-tal groothandelaars in modeaccessoires. De klanten zijn detailhandelaars en marktkramers uit heel België, Nederland en soms ook Frankrijk. De nabijheid van het Zuidstation zorgt voor de aanvoer van collecties uit de Parijse textielwijk Le Sentier. Chinese goederen komen rechtstreeks uit China of ook dikwijls via Parijs.
