Dit oorlogsmonument te Dinant, herdenkt de slachtoffers van 23 augustus 1914. Op zondag 23 augustus 1914 plegen de Duitsers de gruwelijkste gewelddaden tegen de burgerbevolking en worden de meeste gebouwen van Dinant vernield. In totaal worden 674 inwoners, onder wie vrouwen, bejaarden en kinderen, door de Duitsers vermoord.
Op deze plaats Mur Tschoffen genaamd naar de naam van de eigenaar, werden 116 burgers vermoord door grenadiers van de 100e Eenheid van de Saksische garde.
