Brouwerij Riva speelde een grote rol in Dentergem sinds 1900. Na Henri Desplenter breidde Maurice Desplenter de zaak verder uit. De oude gebouwen zijn volledig verdwenen. Tot 2003 was er de discotheek Empire. Sinds het sluiten van de discotheek wacht de Riva-site op een nieuwe bestemming. Er komt een nieuwe verkaveling waarvan de straatnamen naar de bieren van brouwerij Desplenter zullen worden genoemd (Straffe Hendrikstraat, Vondelstraat, Luciferstraat, …). Hier komt in de toekomst een KMO-zone voor lokale, niet hinderlijke bedrijven. In de nabije toekomst zal hier een brouwketel geplaatst worden die herinnert aan de brouwerij.
