Op 9 november 1985 gebeurt hier in Delhaize een bloedige aanslag door de bende van Nijvel. Uit het ballistisch rapport blijkt dat hier mensen vermoord zijn met precies dezelfde riotgun die meer dan twee jaar eerder gebruikt was om de man van de conciërge van zeilmakerij Wittock-Van Landeghem in Temse te doden.
Acht slachtoffers zijn er gevallen tijdens de overval in Aalst.
