Het dorp werd in 1260 als Avussie genoemd. Terwijl Genève in het Verdrag van Parijs in 1749 Chancy en Avully kreeg toegewezen en in het Verdrag van Turijn in 1754 Cartigny, kwam Avusy, dat voorheen onder Savoyaans bestuur viel, in het laatste verdrag bij het Koninkrijk Sardinië. In 1816 ging Avusy als gemeente Avusy-Laconnex-Soral uiteindelijk over naar het Kanton Genève. In 1847 werd Avusy zelfstandig.
