De berg Rigi werd meermaals bewonderd door Wagner en zijn vriend Nietzsche. De berg kan je zien vanaf het huis van Wagner in Tribschen, aan de rand van het meer. De berg werd ook nog eens geschilderd door de beroemde William Turner. William Turner schilderde de berg in In 1842, ongeveer een halve eeuw voor Wagner en Nietsche gezamelijk naar de berg staarden.
