Als je het kasteel Wartburg bezoekt moet je zeker op zoek naar de beroemde duivelsvlek. Het is een inktvlek op de muur. Luther zou er zijn inktpot naar de Duivel gegooid hebben omdat die hem van zijn vertaalwerk hield. Naar verluid wordt de vlek elk jaar bijgewerkt daar de vele vingers die er over wrijven de vlek steeds vervagen. Hier zat Luther in de 16de eeuw ondergedoken en was hij bezig met de vertaling van het Nieuwe Testament.
