Pirmasens is een kreisvrije stad in de Duitse deelstaat Rijnland-Palts. De stad telt 40.176 inwoners op een oppervlakte van 61,37 km². De stad ligt ten zuiden van Kaiserslautern en ten oosten van Saarbrücken. In Pirmasens bevindt zich de oudste schoenfabriek van Duitsland . De stad was ooit het centrum van de Duitse schoenindustrie, maar heden ten dage behoort de regio tot de economisch zwakste van Duitsland.
