Leverkusen [ˈleˑvɐkuːzn̩] is een zelfstandige stad en middelcentrum in het zuidelijke Noord-Rijnland-Westfalen, behoort tot het Regierungsbezirk Köln, ligt geografisch in het Bergisch Land en maakt daarmee deel uit van het Rijnland. In Leverkusen mondt de Wupper uit in de Rijn.
De stad ligt direct noordoostelijk van Keulen en maakt deel uit van de Metropolregio Rijn-Ruhr. Met haar 163.851 inwoners behoort ze tot de kleinere grote steden van het land. Leverkusen is vooral bekend door het Bayer-concern en de voetbalclub Bayer 04 Leverkusen. De stad Leverkusen werd in 1930 opgericht door de fusie van de stad Wiesdorf met de gemeenschappen Schlebusch, Steinbüchel en Rheindorf.
