Het kasteel Frankenberg, ook wel Frankenburg genoemd, ligt in de zogenaamde Frankenberger wijk, een stadsdeel van Aken in Noord-Rijnland-Westfalen. De naam komt van het begrip "Franke", dat staat voor een vrij en onafhankelijk kasteel. Al kort na de bouw werd de laageburcht echter een leengoed van de graven en latere hertogen van Jülich, Kleef en Berg.
