Het spoorwegongeval in Großheringen vond plaats toen op 24 december 1935 een sneltrein naast een passagierstrein reed bij de ingang van het station van Großheringen aan de Saalebrug. 34 mensen kwamen om bij het ongeval. De passagierstrein P 825 Erfurt-Leipzig had 32 minuten vertraging bij aankomst op het station van Großheringen en reed daar zoals gepland een inhaalspoor op om het doorgaande spoor vrij te maken voor de volgende FD 11 Frankfurt-Berlijn, die 34 minuten te laat was. haal hem hier in. Bij het uitrijden moest de P 825 het spoor oversteken in de tegenovergestelde richting, het spoor Halle-Erfurt. Tijdens deze reis werd de P 825 beschermd tegen treinen afkomstig uit Berlijn door het stopsein uit Halle.
