Het Nationaltheater op het Max-Joseph-Platz in München is de speelplek van de Beierse Staatsopera, het Beierse Staatsorkest en het Beierse Staatballet.
Het Nationaltheater is een meesterwerk van de Europese classicisme. Van buiten herinneren de rij van Korinthische zuilen aan een Griekse tempel. Inspiratie voor de façade van het classicistische gebouw kwam van het Théâtre National de l’Odéon in Parijs. In tegenstelling tot dit laatste heeft het Nationaltheater een dubbele driehoekige fronton en gebruikt het in plaats van de voor theaters ongeschikte Dorische de Korinthische zuilenorde.
