Het Karlsburg is een kasteel in de Karlsruher wijk Durlach, dat van het midden van de 16e tot het begin van de 18e eeuw als residentie diende voor de markgraaf van Baden-Durlach.
Waarom markgraaf Karl II., die tot dan toe in Pforzheim resideerde, in 1563 met de Durlachers onderhandelde en wat Durlach hem daarbij bood, is niet bekend. Hij besloot, vanaf 1563, een daar bestaand jachthuis van zijn vader markgraaf Ernst, dat op zijn beurt op een vermoedelijke waterburcht of diep burcht was gebouwd, tot een kasteel uit te breiden en zijn residentie in 1565 daarheen te verplaatsen. Van deze eerste fase van het residentiekasteel is alleen nog de zogenaamde prinsessenbouw – meerdere keren gerenoveerd – bewaard gebleven.
