Het kasteel Garz bevindt zich aan de oostkant van het voormalige riddergoed in de gelijknamige plaats in het Temnitzdal. Garz behoort tot de gemeente Temnitztal in de Landkreis Ostprignitz-Ruppin in Brandenburg. Het landgoed is beschermd als monument.
Het dorp Garz wordt in documenten voor het eerst genoemd in het jaar 1364, maar is waarschijnlijk veel ouder. Vermoedelijk werd het al in het eerste decennium van de 13e eeuw op een Slavische nederzettingsplaats aangelegd. De naam zou kunnen zijn afgeleid van het Slavische gard of gord voor kasteel.
