Het Gymnasium Carolinum in Osnabrück wordt beschouwd als een van de oudste nog bestaande scholen in Duitsland. De oprichting in het jaar 804 zou volgens de overlevering op Karel de Grote teruggaan. Het ontstond als domschool en ligt nog steeds in het centrum van Osnabrück, direct naast de kathedraal. Het gymnasium heeft momenteel een natuurwetenschappelijk-wiskundige, een maatschappelijke, een moderne en een klassieke tak.
