Het natuurpark Dümmer bevindt zich in de Nedersaksische districten Osnabrück, Diepholz, Vechta en in de Noordrijn-Westfalen wijk Minden-Lübbecke. Gemiddeld ligt het 34 km ten noordoosten van Osnabrück, tussen Drentwede en Bohmte, evenals tussen Bersenbrück en Rahden.
Het 1123 km² grote natuurpark, waar de Weser-Ems-waterafscheiding van noord naar zuid doorheen loopt, omvat in zijn landschapbeschermingsgebied onder andere de Dammer Berge, de Dümmer, de Stemweder Berg, talrijke moerasgebieden en de natuurgebieden "Dümmer" en "Westelijke Dümmerniederung".
Het wordt beheerd door de "Naturpark Dümmer e. V." met zetel in Diepholz. Vier districten en 16 gemeenten zijn lid van deze vereniging. De doelen van de vereniging liggen vooral op het gebied van toerismebevordering en landschapsbehoud.
