Het museum is sinds 1989 gevestigd in de krachtcentrale Heimbach, die nog steeds in bedrijf is. Het volledig bewaarde Jugendstil-gebouw is uniek in Europa.
In de krachtcentrale zelf zijn de oude messing kranen met de turbines te bezichtigen. In het bijgebouw zijn elektrische apparaten uit het begin van de 20ste eeuw tentoongesteld. Van de flessenwarmer tot de sigarettenaansteker vindt men hier historische elektrische apparaten van alle soorten.
