Het Dierenasiel Berlijn wordt beheerd door de Dierenbescherming vereniging voor Berlijn en omstreken Corp. e. V. Met een oppervlakte van 16 hectare hoort het tot de grootste dierenasielen van Europa. De accommodatie bevindt zich aan de Hausvaterweg in Berlijn-Falkenberg.
De voorganger van het Dierenasiel Berlijn is het Dierenasiel Lankwitz, dat sinds 1901 aan de Dessauerstraße in het huidige Berlijnse district Steglitz-Zehlendorf was gevestigd. Het gold als een van de eerste dierenasielen van Duitsland. Op de plek van het oude dierenasiel ontstond in 2001 de Kurfürstenviertel, een eengezinswoningwijk. Na de val van de muur nam de Dierenbescherming ook de taken van het Oost-Berlijnse dierenasiel over, dat tot 1991 in de Schicklerstraße in het toenmalige district Mitte was gevestigd.
