Het Theater en Orkest Heidelberg is een huis met vijf disciplines: muziektheater, concert, toneel en dans, evenals een eigen ensemble voor kinder- en jeugdtoneel. Voor het seizoen 2012/13 werd opnieuw een eigen danscompagnie opgericht met de Dance Company Nanine Linning/Theater Heidelberg. Met het seizoen 2018/19 nam de Spaanse choreograaf en voormalige danser Iván Pérez de artistieke leiding van het nieuwe Dance Theatre Heidelberg over van de choreografe Nanine Linning. Sinds 2005 maakt ook het Filharmonisch Orkest van de stad Heidelberg deel uit van het theater en vormt het een eigen afdeling met talrijke concerten en de begeleiding van opera-voorstellingen. De intendant is sinds het seizoen 2011/12 Holger Schultze. Op 1 juni 2017 verlengde hij zijn contract tot 2026.
