Cuxhaven is een Landkreis in de Duitse deelstaat Nedersaksen. Het is qua oppervlakte een van de grootste van Duitsland. De Landkreis telt 198.826 inwoners op een oppervlakte van 2.058,96. De hoofdstad is Cuxhaven.
De ondergrond van de Landkreis bestaat uit morenen en smeltwatergeulen uit de Saale-ijstijd, de voorlaatste ijstijd in het Pleistoceen. Deze vormden de zanderige geestgronden met typische zwerfstenen uit graniet en gneis. De eindmorenen van de laatste ijstijd hebben het gebied niet bereikt. Daarom zijn de terreinvormen veel "zachter" dan in het gebied wat bekendstaat als Holsteinische Schweiz in de deelstaat Sleeswijk-Holstein.
