De Technische Universiteit Ilmenau is een universiteit van de Vrijstaat Thüringen in Ilmenau. Ze heeft vijf faculteiten en biedt 19 bachelor-, twee diploma- en 25 masteropleidingen aan. Onderzoek en onderwijs zijn sterk ingenieurstechnisch georiënteerd en kenmerken zich door een nauwe koppeling van de ingenieurswetenschappen met de economische wetenschappen, de wiskunde en de natuurwetenschappen.
De onderzoeksactiviteiten zijn gericht op de zes interdisciplinaire en faculteitsoverschrijdende onderzoeksclustern:
