De Botanische Tuin Jena is de op één na oudste Botanische Tuin van Duitsland en ligt aan de rand van het stadscentrum van de universiteitsstad Jena, tegenover de Thüringer Universiteits- en Landesbibliotheek. Hij beslaat een oppervlakte van 4,5 hectare en wordt door de nabijgelegen biologische, farmaceutische en botanische instituten evenals de bevolking gebruikt voor educatie en recreatie.
De Botanische Tuin Jena maakt deel uit van het Instituut voor Specifieke Botaniek van de Friedrich-Schiller-Universiteit Jena en toont ongeveer 12.000 verschillende planten in meerdere verwarmde kassen en openluchtgebieden en is beschikbaar voor het publiek, de universiteit en leerlingen van alle schoolniveaus voor onderwijsdoeleinden.
