Op 15 juli 1667 vluchtte Christina van Zweden hier via de achterpoort van haar residentie naar de Zweedse ambassade. Ze had voor haar huis aan de Krayenkamp rellen veroorzaakt door een openbaar feest aan te richten ter ere van de nieuwgekozen paus Clemens IX. Sindsdien heette de poort "Christinenpförtchen". Het verdween in de 19e eeuw, maar het steegje bleef onder dezelfde bijnaam voortbestaan tot de sloop in de 20e eeuw.
