De plaats ligt ten zuiden van de hoofdplaats Hanstedt bij de uitmonding van de provinciale weg L 216 in de L 213. Ten oosten loopt de A 7.
Nindorf is een lintdorp. Het kern van het dorp wordt gevormd door boerderijen onder machtige eiken en wordt deels nog omgeven door zwerfstenenmuren. Het landschap bestaat uit heide- en bosrijke heuvels, het Toppenstedter Woud en het Garlstorfer Woud, het Auetal en de Hanstedter Bergen.
Nindorf werd voor het eerst in 1162 schriftelijk genoemd. Het ligt aan de rand van de Lüneburger Heide, tussen de Smalle Aue en het Garlstorfer Woud. Het is een van de kleinste dorpen van de Samtgemeinde Hanstedt, en het valt onder de parochie van Egestorf.
