Tourcoing is een Franse industriestad met 98.656 inwoners op 1 januari 2019. Deze Noord-Franse stad is onderdeel van een grote binationale agglomeratie waarvan ook de Franse steden Rijsel en Roubaix en de Belgische steden Moeskroen en Kortrijk deel uitmaken. Deze steden vormen samen de Eurometropool Rijsel-Kortrijk-Doornik, een gebied met ongeveer 2.100.000 inwoners. Net als Roubaix is Tourcoing een zelfstandige gemeente gebleven, maar maakt ze wel deel uit van de Europese metropool van Rijsel, met 1.106.885 inwoners. Lille Métropole staat er onder andere in voor ruimtelijke ordening, afvalophaling, cultuur en mobiliteit.
