Fourchambault is een gemeente in het Franse departement Nièvre . De gemeente telde 4.125 inwoners op 1 januari 2019. De plaats maakt deel uit van het arrondissement Nevers.De plaats is maar ontstaan vanaf 1820, toen ingenieur Georges Dufaud en zakenman Louis Boigues hier aan de oever van de Loire hoogovens bouwden. Door de snelle ontwikkeling van de plaats met arbeiderswoningen en scholen, werd in 1855 beslist tot oprichting van de gemeente Fourchambault uit delen van de gemeenten Garchizy, Marzy en Varennes-Vauzelles. In 1950 kwam er een bromfietsenfabriek waar de Vespa werd geproduceerd.
