Deze trap werd in het midden van de 16e eeuw ingevoegd tussen twee gebouwen in het Hôtel de Houdreville. Door de restauratie in 2014 kon het weer omhoog en was het weer toegankelijk voor de uitkijkkamer op de 4e verdieping.
Het is een van de 100 renaissancetrappen met rechte vluchten en versierde plafonds in Frankrijk en ongetwijfeld de interessantste in Lotharingen vanwege de schoonheid en de symbolische betekenis van de uitzonderlijke gebeeldhouwde decoratie. Het geeft toegang tot de adellijke verdieping, die de concentratie van decoratieve en emblematische effecten op de 2e overloop onthult.
