Het was in de Moezel dat de eerste dagen van de Eerste Wereldoorlog plaatsvonden met de Slag om Morhange op 19 en 20 augustus 1914. Een herdenkingsmonument, opgericht ter nagedachtenis aan de gevallen soldaten, staat in het dal van Morhange en nodigt uit tot meditatie. Opgericht tijdens het interbellum, werd het in 1940 door de Duitsers verwoest en in 1964 op hun kosten herbouwd. Ter plaatse domineert een oriëntatietafel het slagveld en maakt het mogelijk de bewegingen van de troepen te zien.
