Genesteld op de top van een heuvel, onthult de basiliek haar charme aan voorbijgangers. Een advies: kijk omhoog. Het standbeeld van de Hoop zal zijn armen uitstrekken boven de poort. Binnenin schort het sterrengewelf van de koepel de tijd op in een oneindige nacht. Het is een beroemd bedevaartsoord en wordt al lang gekoesterd door de inwoners. Oorspronkelijk was het een kapel gewijd aan Onze Lieve Vrouw van Bon-Secours. Het gebouw werd in de loop der jaren uitgebreid en verbouwd, tot de recente restauratie in 2019.
