Sint Bartholomeuskerk
Tussen flamboyante gotiek en renaissance
Na de Bourgondische oorlog, die in 1477 in de slag bij Nancy eindigde met de overwinning van René II, brak voor het hertogdom Lotharingen een periode aan van (relatieve) vrede, demografische en economische groei, die duurde tot 1560. In de Xaintois, zoals in het hele bisdom Toul, was er een grote beweging om nieuwe kerken te bouwen, vooral tussen 1520 en 1550. De kerk van Gugney aux Aulx is een perfect voorbeeld van wat men flamboyante plattelandskunst kan noemen.
Het silhouet is identiek aan dat van Jorxey: hoge klokkentorens flankeren een schip met vijfhoekige chevets, die het traditionele beeld van de Lotharingse plattelandskerk weergeven. Binnen bevat een schip met 3 schepen een echt museum van flamboyante en renaissance religieuze beeldhouwkunst.
