Aan de voet van de Mont Cassel kun je het verhaal ontdekken van de verovering van Noord-Frankrijk door Lodewijk XIV, en in het bijzonder de episode rond Saint-Omer en Binnen-Vlaanderen. Een maquette van het slagveld verklaart de historische context, zodat je goed begrijpt wat er toen op het spel stond. Een evocatie van het dagelijkse leven in Vlaanderen in de 18e eeuw maakt het bezoek compleet.
Voor fietsers is de site bekroond met het label Accueil Vélo (Accueil Vélo® is een nationaal label dat een kwaliteitsvolle ontvangst en dienstverlening langs fietsroutes voor toerfietsers garandeert).
