De dolmen van Bois Neuf dateren uit het midden-neolithicum, tussen 3.500 en 2.500 v.Chr. Tijdens deze periode werd de Limousin beïnvloed door de uitbreiding van de Chasseïsche samenleving. Deze beschaving vertoonde de eerste duidelijke sporen van sociale hiërarchie door de bouw van vestingwerken en megalithische grafmonumenten.
De tafel van 2,9 x 2 meter wordt ondersteund door zes pilaren. Dit monument is de enige 'overlevende' van een groep van vijf megalieten. In de buurt is een groot aantal neolithische artefacten gevonden, waaronder pijlpunten, gebroken aardewerk en ornamenten (botkralen en groene steen). De kamer is peervormig en bestaat uit twee interne secties met een smalle opening naar het zuiden.
