De Humberbrug is de op drie na grootste enkelspan hangbrug ter wereld. Sinds de opening in 1981 hebben er meer dan 200 incidenten plaatsgevonden van mensen die van de brug sprongen of vielen, waarvan er slechts vijf zijn overleefd. Als gevolg daarvan zijn er plannen overwogen om te kooien of hogere hekken langs de loopbruggen van de brug in te voeren.
