De plaats wordt gekenmerkt door de Paternoster Square Column, zie bij monumenten en sculpturen. Het blok wordt door voetgangerspaden, die in een centraal plein uitmonden, ingedeeld. De historische kapittelzaal van Christopher Wren is in de nieuwe bebouwing geïntegreerd.
Voorstanders van deze plannen prijzen het resultaat om zijn harmonieuze inrichting en de gekozen materialen, zoals steen en baksteen. Critici bekritiseren echter de banale architectuur en het exclusieve gebruik door winkels en kantoren, dan wel het ontbreken van woningen, waardoor het plein in het weekend en op feestdagen doods aanvoelt.
