Grindon ligt nabij het zuidelijke einde van het Peak District National Park. Het bevindt zich aan de top van de westelijke rand van de kalkstenen oever van de Manifold Valley, ten zuiden van Butterton en tegenover Wetton aan de oostzijde van de vallei. Een vergelijking van twee uitzichten naar het noorden vanuit het dorp geeft enige indicatie van de somberheid van dit gebied in de winter. Het dichterbijgelegen dorp, links van het midden, is Butterton, terwijl de verre skyline die van Derbyshire is.
