Grindon est situé près de l'extrémité sud du parc national du Peak District. Il se trouve au sommet du bord occidental de la banquette de calcaire de la vallée de Manifold, au sud de Butterton et en face de Wetton sur le côté est de la vallée. Une comparaison de deux vues du nord depuis le village donne une indication de la désolation de cette région en hiver. Le village le plus proche, à gauche du centre, est Butterton, tandis que le lointain ciel est celui du Derbyshire.
