Leicester (LEST-ər) is een stad, een eenheidsautoriteit en de hoofdplaats van Leicestershire in de East Midlands van Engeland. Het is de grootste nederzetting in de East Midlands.
De stad ligt aan de rivier Soar en dicht bij het oostelijke uiteinde van het National Forest. Het is gelegen ten noordoosten van Birmingham en Coventry, ten zuiden van Nottingham en ten westen van Peterborough.
