De Penrhyn-steengroeve is een leisteengroeve gelegen nabij Bethesda, Noord-Wales. Aan het eind van de negentiende eeuw was het de grootste leisteengroeve ter wereld; de hoofdput is bijna 1 mijl lang en 1.200 voet diep, en werd bemand door bijna 3.000 steenhouwers. Sindsdien is het in grootte overvleugeld door leisteengroeves in China, Spanje en de VS. Penrhyn is nog steeds de grootste leisteengroeve van Groot-Brittannië, maar het personeel telt nu dichter bij de 200.
