Leadenhall Street was de straat waar de beroemde Britse East India Company haar hoofdkwartieren had. Vanaf hier regeerde het ongeveer een eeuw over het machtige Indiaanse rijk. Wist je dat de Britse Oost-Indische Compagnie de gewapende manschappen van de Britse monarchie in aantal overtrof! Ze hadden tot 350.000 soldaten. Pas in 1858 nationaliseerde de Britse kroon India samen met het privéleger van het bedrijf.
