Otsjamtsjyre is een kuststad aan de Zwarte Zee, gelegen in de de facto onafhankelijke Georgische regio Abchazië en het bestuurlijk centrum van het gelijknamige district Otsjamtsjyre. De stad ligt aan de oever van de Ghalidzgarivier op ongeveer 5 meter boven zeeniveau, 53 kilometer ten zuidoosten van Soechoemi en 351 kilometer ten noordwesten van Tbilisi.
Otsjamtsjyre ligt in een gebied met een vochtig subtropisch klimaat met relatief warme winters en hete zomers. De gemiddelde jaartemperatuur bedraagt 13,6°C, met een januarigemiddelde van 4,5 graden en een juligemiddelde van 23°C. De gemiddelde jaarlijkse neerslag bedraagt 1300 mm.
