De Osmananga lagune is een bijzonder ecologische en archeologisch waardevol gebied. Het gebied van 6000 hectare is een belangrijk plek voor trekvogels . Het is tevens de plek waar de Caretta-Caretta schildpad en de Afrikaanse Chamaileonta zich voortplant. Misschien wel het meest intrigerende aspect van deze plek is dat je hier ook kameleons kan zien. Er zijn tal van theorieën hoe de kameleons hier belandden. De meest populaire verklaring is dat het huisdieren waren die hier ooit ontsnapten in de Romeinse tijd!
