De Shannon is een rivier in Ierland. Met een loop van 386 kilometer is het de langste rivier op het eiland Ierland. Het is een forse fysieke barrière tussen oost en West-Ierland. Tussen Killimer in het zuiden en Dowra in het noorden zijn er nog geen 35 plaatsen waar de rivier overgestoken kan worden.
