De Cisalpijnse Republiek was een Noord-Italiaanse vazalstaat van Frankrijk die bestond van 30 juni 1797 tot 1805 en net als Bataafse Republiek en Helvetische Republiek als bufferstaat voor Frankrijk fungeerde. In 1802 werd een nieuwe grondwet aangenomen, waarin de naam werd veranderd in Italiaanse Republiek. De president ervan was Napoleon Bonaparte. De naam verwijst naar de oude Romeinse provincie Gallia Cisalpina, letterlijk het "Gallië aan deze kant van de Alpen" (vanuit Romeins perspectief).
