De zeer oude San Ciriaco Kathedraal op een heuvel, met een weid uitzicht over de stad en de Adriatische Zee. Toen koningin Christina van Zweden in december 1655 Ancona bezocht, viel er veel sneeuw. Christina werd ondergebracht in het bisschoppelijk paleis in de binnenstad en had geen zin om de moeilijke weg naar boven af te leggen. Toch wilde ze graag enkele relikwieën van de kathedraal zien: de speerpunt waarmee Jezus aan het kruis genageld zou zijn en de veronderstelde rechtervoet van Sint Anna, de moeder van Maria. Daarom werden de relikwieën voor haar uit de kathedraal opgehaald.
