Architect Karel Muller heeft op de 35m hoge Sprengenberg één van de merkwaardigste en opvallendste landhuizen gerealiseerd op de grens van Salland en Twente: Villa Sprengenberg. In de volksmond het torentje van Palthe genoemd naar de bewoner die de villa heeft laten bouwen. De villa is niet te bezichtigen maar het landgoed er omheen is vrij toegankelijk. Het maakt deel uit van de boswachterij Haarle die op zijn beurt weer onderdeel is van het Nationaal Park De Sallandse Heuvelrug. De Sprengenberg ontleent zijn naam aan de ondergrondse waterbronnen die hier aanwezig zijn. Vroeger was hier een uitgestrekt heidegebied, nu is er voornamelijk bos. Er graast een kudde Schotse hooglanders om de overgebleven heide in stand te houden.
