Ens is een plaats in het zuiden van de gemeente Noordoostpolder aan de N50. Het dorp telt inclusief het buitengebied 3.110 inwoners .Ens is vernoemd naar Ens, het zuidelijke deel van het eiland Schokland, door een sloot en een dijkje van het noordelijke deel Emmeloord gescheiden. Op Ens bevonden zich twee woonbuurtjes, de Middel- of Molenbuurt en de Zuiderbuurt, ook wel Zuidert genoemd. De Middelbuurt was daarvan de belangrijkste; een enkele maal wordt Ens dan ook daaraan gelijkgesteld.
