Bredevoort is een voormalige heerlijkheid en vestingstadje en was tot 1 januari 1818 een zelfstandige gemeente. Bredevoort is sindsdien gelegen in de gemeente Aalten in de Gelderse Achterhoek. Het heeft de titel Boekenstad vanwege de antiquariaten en tweedehandsboekwinkels. Bredevoort heeft 1.450 inwoners.
