Het ligt ten noordoosten van Dokkum, ten zuidoosten van Metslawier en ten noordwesten van Ee. Een echte dorpskern heeft het niet, de bewoning ligt aan de Bergsmawei tussen wateren de Muizenrid en de Zuider Ee in.In 2021 telde het dorp 45 inwoners. De bewoning aan de Humaldawei wordt ook wel bij de buurtschap Groot Medhuizen gerekend.
