Enschede ) is een stad en gemeente in Twente, in het oosten van de Nederlandse provincie Overijssel.Onder de gemeente Enschede vallen, naast de stad Enschede, de dorpen Lonneker, Boekelo, Usselo, Glanerbrug en de buurtschap Twekkelo, die voor de adressering van brieven allemaal onder de woonplaats Enschede vallen. De gemeente telt 160.383 inwoners met circa 160 nationaliteiten. Enschede is daarmee de grootste stad van Overijssel en naar inwoneraantal de veertiende gemeente van Nederland.
