Aan de boorden van de Geeuw, de eeuwenoude vaarverbinding tussen IJlst en Sneek staat de unieke houtzaagmolen "de Rat" die nog volop in produktie is. Stammen die liggen te wateren, het geluid van de draaiende wieken, het gestamp van de op en neergaande zaagramen, de geur van versgezaagd hout, hier ervaart u nog het oude houtzagersambacht zoals dat al ruim 3 eeuwen in "De Rat" dagelijks wordt uitgevoerd.
De molen is iedere zaterdag geopend van 9.00 tot 17.00 uur en extra in de maanden mei t/m september op woensdag, donderdag, en vrijdag van 10.00 tot 17.00 uur
